2011 Australian Baby Bonus News Site.

Are you better receiving the Australian Baby Bonus or do you get a better financial result with the Paid Parental Scheme. It can be complicated, see below for details.

How is the Baby Bonus paid?

The baby bonus will be cut from $5400 to $5000 from September 2012, and frozen at that level for a further three years, until then the Baby Bonus is paid per eligible child in 13 fortnightly instalments. From 1 July 2011, customers eligible to receive Baby Bonus will get a higher first instalment of $879.77 and 12 fortnightly instalments of approximately $379.77. The higher first instalment of Baby Bonus will assist with the upfront costs of having a new child.

Default Ensure it has the following features

Some state of the art monitors enable you to work the monitor like a walkie talkie, i.e. you can talk into the monitor so that your baby can hear your voice. I have been told to ensure that you want the 'sound lights' to be in an arc or seperated, main reason because at long distances its hard to read the LCD lights when they are all bunched up. Most importantly ensure that its rechargeable! The price I was quoted for one with all the bells and whistles was $179, I ended up going for middle of the range which did everything but enable you to talk into the monitor, it cost $99.

Hi, I used a Phillips (bought it nearly 5 years ago for my first born) and it is still working fine. It is just a sound monitor, no pictures etc. What I found the best was at the time all my neighbours had babies and their monitors kept picking up static and other babies, and the phillips didnt.
Good luck.

Hi

We had the Angelcare Sound and Movement Sensor which was absolutely great.

It comes with a handset for the parents room so that you can hear your baby (adjustable volume), and it also has a movement sensor pad which is placed under the mattress where baby is sleeping and if there is no movement (ie breathing) for 20 seconds the monitor will sound it's alarm.

I know there are so many products available. We purchased the Angelcare because it was recommended to us by our friends, and now we're quite happy to recommend it.
